No. 03 · Custom Work

The weird stuff, handled.

POS systems, outdoor WiFi, cameras, and phones. Plus small automations that answer guests, ask for reviews, and take the repeat work off your plate. Ten years of IT means I've seen most of it.

Busy-season helpers

The repeat work, off your plate.

Questions answered, inquiries in one place, reviews asked for. I set up small automations that handle the jobs your staff repeat a hundred times a summer.

Some use AI to answer from your own information or draft a reply. It all runs in accounts under your name, and anything it isn't sure about comes to you.

The easy question gets answered. The one that needs you gets passed along.
Guest questions

“Guests ask the same ten questions all day. WiFi, parking, check-in, beach tags.”

What I set up
A chat on your website that answers from your own information: your FAQ, your policies, your house rules. When someone wants to book or asks something it can’t answer, it takes their details and sends them to you.
What changes
Guests get an answer at 11pm. You only hear about the questions that need you.
Where it runs
Your website, plus a Google or Microsoft account and an AI account in your name. Every conversation is logged where you can read it.

Inquiries

“Requests come in from the website, the inbox, and the chat, and some slip through.”

What I set up
Every inquiry lands in one shared sheet: who, what they want, when, and a two-line summary. You get an email the moment a new one comes in.
What changes
One list to work from in the middle of July. Nothing sits unanswered because it came in the wrong door.
Where it runs
Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, the one you already pay for.

Checklists & logs

“Did the closing checklist get done? Where is the cash box log?”

What I set up
Opening and closing checklists, cash, key, and time logs your staff fill in on their phones. Every entry feeds one spreadsheet, and a short weekly summary lands in your inbox.
What changes
You see what got done without walking the property or chasing paper.
Where it runs
Microsoft Forms or Google Forms, feeding a spreadsheet in your account.

Reviews

“We forget to ask for reviews, and the ones we get sit there unanswered.”

What I set up
A thank-you after the stay or the rental with your review link. When a new review comes in, a reply is drafted in your voice and waits for your OK.
What changes
A steady trickle of fresh reviews, and every one gets a real answer.
Where it runs
Your email and your Google Business Profile.

Bookings

“No-shows on the busiest weekend, and the same ‘what time is check-in?’ call.”

What I set up
Confirmations, a reminder before the day, and arrival details, sent from your booking system with your wording.
What changes
Fewer forgotten bookings, fewer of the same phone calls.
Where it runs
Your booking system, or Microsoft Bookings if you need one.

Missed calls

“The phone rings during the rush and nobody can get to it.”

What I set up
A missed call gets a text back right away with your hours and your booking link, and the call shows up in your list to return.
What changes
Callers get something better than voicemail, and fewer of them call the next place down the street.
Where it runs
Your phone service. If it can’t send texts, I’ll recommend one that can. It bills you directly.

  • Assessment$400
  • Builds from$1,500

The assessment maps how the work flows today and ends with a fixed-price plan. Builds are a fixed price, agreed before I start. Any monthly fee for a tool is billed to you directly by that company.

What I take on

If it plugs in, I can probably sort it out.

The jobs that don't fit a plan or a website. Some take an hour. Some take a week and a written quote.

WiFi from the office to the beach stand, with the cameras and card readers on it too.
  • POS systems

The register at the counter, the card readers, and the tablets at the stand, set up and talking to each other.

  • Outdoor and large-property WiFi

WiFi that reaches the deck, the pool, the back lot, or the beach stand, not just the office.

  • Networks

The boxes and cables behind the WiFi, labeled and written down so the next person isn't guessing.

  • Servers and storage

Shared drives and file storage that the whole team can reach, backed up and written down.

  • Cameras

Cameras on the lot, the stand, or the storeroom, viewable from your phone.

  • Phone systems

Office lines and call routing, so the right phone rings in season and off.

  • Moves and rewires

New space, new layout, or a closet full of mystery cables. Planned before anything gets unplugged.

  • Migrations

Old email, old files, or an old system moved to something better, with a written plan first.

  • Everything else

The thing that's been broken since last summer and nobody knows why. Ten years of IT, and I've seen most of it. Tell me about it.

FAQ

Asked at the counter.

Look firstWork orderI look firstYou get it in writingThen it gets doneAgreed
Bigger jobs get a written price before I start.
How does a fixed quote work?

I look first, on a call or on-site. Then you get a written price and scope. Small fixes just get done and billed hourly.

Is this AI?

Some of it. AI answers guest questions from your own information, drafts review replies for your OK, and writes the weekly summary. It runs in accounts under your name, you can read what it says, and you can switch it off any time.

Do I need new software?

Usually not. I build on what you already pay for: Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, your booking system, your phone service. If something is missing, I'll tell you what it costs before you buy it.

Are you on call 24/7?

No. I work business hours, with same-day responses for Active and Fractional CTO plan clients. Steady oversight means emergencies get rare.

Do you only work around Cape May?

No. I'm based in Cape May and work on-site around Cape May County and the Philadelphia area. A lot of custom work can happen remotely, too.

How it works

Look first. Price second.

  1. I look first

On a call or on-site. I want to see the problem, not guess at it.

  2. You get it in writing

A written price and scope for bigger jobs, agreed before I start.

  3. Small fixes just get done

If it's quick, I fix it and bill the hour. No paperwork for a five-minute job.

Next step

Want to talk it through?

Book a 20-minute call. The first one is free, and you will know by the end of it whether I can help.

The Handoff Promise. Everything lives in your accounts, under your name, written down, with every login in a vault you control. Month to month, no lock-in. If something happens to me, another IT person could pick it up from my notes on day one.
